Summer by Hannah Efron, Helena Ligthart, Adalyn Raney, Miriam Shteyman

We count down the seconds before the bell rings and we can run out the door.
Summer is here and school is finally out.
The sun is hot and the air is humid.
Summer is here to stay.

Weeks pass and soon there are blinding lights in the sky.
They shine and shimmer and bring joy to the 4th of July.
We have picnics and watch the show, while sweet watermelon juice drips down our cheeks, like tears of joy.

White sand beaches and clear blue water are behind us as we sail into the vibrant sunset.
We dive into the cool water and feel the warm sand on our toes.
We lie on the beach and relax, feeling the warm rays of sun on our skin.
We feel a warm summer breeze as we build a sandy wedding cake.

Camps and sports drive the summer to an end.
We eat s’mores while the campfire slowly dies.

The smell of the fire and the sweet s’mores makes us think of next week when school starts, and the cycle begins again.
